AYURVEDA & MASSAGE

Ayurvedic massage - Atreya Abhyanga® method:

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word which translates into “the science of life”. It is is an ancient Indian system of medicine, dating back to more than 5000 years ago. Ayurveda is a preventative health system whereby lifestyle routines and diet are adapted to the basic constitution of each individual. Ayurvedic massage (Atreya Abhyanga® method) is a full body massage using warm oils. It works on both the physical and psychological level and enables the rebalancing and harmonising of the 5 elements (ether, wind, fire, water, earth) in our bodies which present themselves in the form of three humours - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. This massage is based on life force/vital energy or prana in Sanskrit.

The goals of this method are relaxation, releasing tensions, eliminating excesses caused by the elements, purifying and eliminating toxins in the body, providing better circulation, tonifying tissues, increasing the immune system’s capacity and maintain the body in good health. In a fast moving world, this massage enables a return to the body, creating a feeling of groundedness.

Ayurvedic massage (Atreya Abhyanga® method) is a tailored massage in two parts. The first part consists of a questionnaire, this is then followed by the massage.

Questionnaire

The questionnaire is made up of observations and a list of questions asked by the therapist. This is done in order to gain a better understanding of the individual's basic constitution, as well as any potential imbalances.

Atreya Abhyanga® Massage

The oils and protocol are then adapted to the individual's constitution and their needs.

The massage lasts between 1:15-1:30. Any subsequent session lasts about 1:15-1:30 and may not necessarily require a full questionnaire.
